if you're in a predicament

Thu May 7, 2009, 9:27 AM
No, I haven't died.

I just update all the time on my LJ. And can't be bothered over here. XD

So, what's happened in the last... uh, three months?

+ I turned 17... wow, I can't believe I didn't even do a Birthday post +_+
+ I got the result of that exam I was freaking out about, and I got an A \o/
+ fell head over heels for this guy at college
+ watched a load of stuff; Robot Chicken (SO in love with Seth Green); A Clockwork Orange; Shawshank Redemption; One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest; X Men Origins (but that can have its own point); Heroes (but we shall not speak of it.).
+ yeah, X Men; the dialogue was pretty horrific (some of those Deadpool moments had the essence of the snappiness associated with the earlier films, but were still cringeworthy, and didn't have anything like as much time as they should) and as much as I'm a romantic clichés do not pull their weight with me at all. The plot was poorly constructed and felt fabricated, but that's to be expected from a prequel - what I will disagree with them on is the cinematography, which I thought was visually stunning. I'm not an explosions-seeker in a film but I do appreciate good cinema, and whilst I've seen better, they're good at what they do.

The slo-mo stuff, whilst totally overused, was, to give them credit, very powerful. The acting was, I think, pretty good considering what the actors were given to work with, but it's a shame they didn't dwell on some of the lesser characters - they were what the film had best going for it.

To be perfectly honest, I went to see it for the eye-candy. And as a bit of a sci-fi (does X Men classify as sci-fi? I suppose the genetic mutation aspect does...) freak I'm always happy to go for the ride. Despite all the criticisms, I still actually enjoyed seeing it, and wouldn't mind again. My mind is an irrational thing.

+ anyway, yeah, I've got uni-deciding exams over the next couple of weeks (and apparently I'm going for Oxford) so I'm going to go off and be antisocial again.
